    Default Lotze Power Hacksaw

Hi everyone, I recently picked up an old Lotze Power Hacksaw and am looking to do complete refurbishment. I was wondering if anyone had a user manual etc... for it? I can't seem to find anything on google regarding a manual anywhere. The machine I have is missing a couple of minor components that I can tell but there is only so much one can ascertain from looking at pictures.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Kris & welcome!

I have had quite a bit to do with these saws over the years, & indeed power hacksaws in general. As far as I know there has never been any literature for these saws, they came from an era when operation knowledge was "assumed knowledge". If there ever was any literature then it has long been lost in the sands of time. Having said all that they are not hard to make parts for and I still have a complete one sitting in storage so I can provide you with measurements and dimensions for you if you need to make parts.

Now, on their function, the Lotze saw, in particular, has been given a bad rap over the years. Oddly enough this has been down to user error as people, very often, put the blades in backwards or run the motor backwards and then wonder why they don't cut. For reference these saws cut on the reverse stroke, so you need to have the blade oriented correctly so the teeth are facing the rear ready to bite into the cut as the bow is pulled backwards & down, otherwise you will be trying to "file" your way through bar stock (not recommended & very uncool!) & the main crank must rotate clockwise when viewed from the right side of the machine.

I hope this helps and I'm more than happy to help you out if you get stuck. They really are actually a great little saw when you get them set up, but you do have to understand them to get them to work properly.
