Churchill NB grinder
There is still good stuff out there to be found . I picked up this Churchill model NB SG last year for a five hundred bucks. Hydraulic with power on x and y with auto feeds etc. Although it isn't that large H X L X D , it's a heavy unit weight wise . The table slots were filled with crud .
After a clean it looks OK but I am yet to fire it up and destroy something .

There has been heaps and heaps of surface grinders for sale over the past three or so years.
I looked for years to find one and paid through the nose for a excellent condition J&S 540 as surface grinders in general were rare beasts.
Now they are pretty commonly available.
The Churchill NB is a pretty good machine I believe.Gold, the colour of choice for the discerning person.

Richard,
You still have to spend a healthy sum if you want a decent J&S 540. I have been through that recently myself. Mine came out of a closing down manufacturing shop and is not a junker. Still took some cleaning up though. And the operator learning curve is a whole new deal.
