G'day from Melbourne
I was a member of this forum for many years, but a change in email address seemed to result in me being bumped off. So, I'm back with a new username and happy to contribute as best I can.
My previous user name was silversprings, and I am a keen Hercus man. Currently have 3 Hercus 9's active here in the workshop - plus a big Taiwanese lathe which does the grunt work. I'm retired and spend most of my free time in the workshop, usually re-manufacturing some part or other, often for older historic cars or stationary engines. You'd be surprised (or maybe not, given this forum) how popular I am with the members of the various car clubs I belong to....you know how it goes "mate, can you knock this up for me, it'll only take you 5 minutes". Yes, I say, 5 minutes of metal cutting, plus 3 hours to set it all up. You know the story. Cheers, Tony

Welcome back to the forum.
I know what you mean about dialing in a part to be sure you have it perfectly aligned and or concentric. And then hitting the dimensions you require. It is nerve wracking but then you sit back and admire the work you have just done.

Welcome back to the MetalWork forums,
You have come back to a great community interested in the many facets of Metalwork. You will find your fellow members experienced ,helpful and supportive. we are from all over the world but mainly are Australians.
Our software does not allow a member with under 10 posts to post links or photos. Its a security thing OK.
You can navigate about the forums by doing the following:
Go to the rectangular FORUM box with tiny white down arrow and click.
Select and click FORUM HOME from the pulldown menu which will give you a scroll down page with all of our various sub forums and other helpful things on them.
Our forum rules, the TOU's are right on top and the rest is the sub Forums and help pages that make up our forum package. Please take the time to read through the TOU rules.
At the top of the sub forum pages there are often stickies. It is advisable to read these stickies before posting particularly in the market place forums.
The list of sub forums will help you guide you where to place your subsequent posts.
We would love to see pictures of the gear you have built so after ten posts you can post them without moderation (its an anti spam thing) Until then I check posts regularly to approve whats incoming for the first ten posts.
Anything else you need to know, please PM me and I will help if I possibly can.
Cheers
Grahame
