Default New to all this. Located in Campbells Creek

    Hi all,

I'm very very new to metal working machines. I've relocated to Campbells Creek in Central Victoria and bought myself an old lathe (Colchester Student) and a mill (Pacific/Lagun FU-2).

At the moment the main thing I make are old fashioned pocket knives, which so far hardly tests the capacities of my machines (I make washers on the lathe and hope to cut my nail nicks on the mill). I'm planning on kicking off a few random projects to learn to use the machines.

I'm having some trouble with my mill which I'll ask about in a seperate post.

    Cheers,
    Tris.

    Gday Tris

    Welcome to the Metalwork Forums.

It is good to have another traditional pocket knife bloke here on the MetalWork Forums. I am sure there are more traditional pocket knife blokes lurking who have not identified them selves as yet.

There is no knife forum here ,yet!. That will have to be changed.

We have a great bunch of people here all with something to offer.

So you can look about and see what we have, goto the the top LH corner of the page and click the FORUM box with the down arrow.

That will display a drop down menu with Forum Home on the top of the list. Click Forum Home and a scroll down page will come up.

Scroll down the page and the various help pages and sun forums shall be shown.

Please read the Terms of Use on the very top of the scroll down page - they are our rules.

Please post your questions for the machinery in the general MetalWork forum. There are plenty of members who can help. I would like to send you PM to talk pocket knives.

    Again, welcome to our forums.

    Grahame

Oh cool. I'm new to Campbells Creek but I'm really liking it. If you feel like showing off your workshop send me a message and I'll come for a tour.

Welcome local central Vic Swarf makers,

I am just east of Bendigo. Have a Hercus ATM 260.
Also like to catch up with other 'Swarf makers' in the area...when we are allowed to.
I have a good source of really good roundish 'scrap' as well as alloy and brass rod and bar to learn on with the lathe.
