    Default G'Day from Germany

    Hi folks!
I'm Stefan, a 28 years young fan of crafting my own "things" and riding motorbikes.

I started my mechatronic training in 2008, got a little tired of the way too easy stuff and finished engineers school for mechatronics in 2018.
Now I'm software engineer for complex packaging machines.

I've always been working on the bikes I own and rebuilding them, so I figured I want to have a mill to be able to not only design, but also create a few parts a year myself.
Just a few month ago I got an old HWACHEON WMT-H1300 (08/1989) from the company I work for.
Cost me 350€ (~$380) to get and a few extra nerves to get that 2 ton thing off the tractor trailer (R.I.P. rear axle of old forklift)
    IMG_20200326_164246_cut.jpg
It needs some rebuild to be done, as the powerfeed of the X-axis didn't get stopped by the end switch while the worker didn't pay attention to it. This probably destroyed a gear.

At some point I will probably also go and buy a lathe. But I want it to be smaller than the mill

To compensate for the missing lathe and maybe do some crazy stuff with it, I got myself a 250mm (10") meca rotary-/indexing-table with a Röhm chuck on it.
It set me back 520€ (or $565). Hope it wasn't too bad of a deal.

But I don't like the spindle backlash yet, so that's something I'm trying to solve currently.

I wish I had manuals or part-lists for these things, but the mill seems too old to find anything and the rotary table doesn't have the factory plate on it anymore, so I don't know the exact type of that..

Welcome! Generally rotary tables have a way to adjust the depth of engagement of the worm and wheel that should help with backlash.

    Welcome Stefan,
You have found a really friendly and helpful group of guys.
Your mill looks like a huge beast, and I'm a little envious.
    warmest welcome

    Thanks mate!
There's some kind of excentric cylinder for the "spindle"/worm, but setting trying to get it even more close ends up in lots of noise and rough turning on the handle.
Backlash is ~135° on the "original" setting and can be squeezed down to ~45°

(For anyone who wants to know what I wrote: seems like I'n not the only german guy in here after all )
