Very nice work. Thanks for the pics.
Do you forge the steel yourself or buy it ready made?
I believe that we have quite a few knifemakers on here.

At the moment I'm stock removing to get to the end product. So from high carbon steel flatbar. I've got some pretty bad tendonitus in my right arm and it stops me forging. But I do all my process in house including heat treating. I converted a ward kiln with a PID now I get fantastic results with stable temps for my heat treats.

Hi Josh, How about starting a thread on how you maake your knives and how you modified your Ward Kiln and what the PID is, PLEASE???
I'm certain a lot of our members would be interested in the Heat Treatment side as well.
We don't want to get kicked off of here with a lot of details about this that and the other.

    Hi Josh,
    Welcome to the forum,
    Nice knife, especially the handle.

There are a few knife makers here including yours truly. We have a very wide ranging forum . Theres a large number of sub forums that may interest you Have a look about by going to the FORUM box in the top LH corner of the page, click it and a list will come up. Select Forum Home and click again and a scroll down of the available sub forums will appear.

Further comment on knifemaking will fit nicely in the general Forum and oven building (electrical) in our electrical forum.

The knife enthusiasts among us will look forward to posts about making your knives and the tools that you use to make them, I am sure.

    Welcome to our Forum.

As, I understand it, PID is the short name for a PID standing for Proportional, Integral, Derivative controller ,a programmable temperature control unit placed in the oven circuit to achieve precise temperatures needed in the knife heat treatment process.
