    An urban myth.
    The Ferguson tractor engine was a part of the structural integrity of the tractor and was a massive casting in the crankcase area.
    The Vanguard had a full chassis and was a completely different casting.
    The only commonality was the cylinder bores and the stroke of the crankshaft.
    The Vanguard had pressed metal sump and rocker covers the tractor had cast Al ones as part of the structural integrity of the motor.
    No tractor ever had twin Skinners Union carbys but the Vanguard Sportsman did.
    Im not a Vanguard nutter but I do still have Mog with a TR4 in it.
