In my shed
1982 Suzuki GSX1100SZ Katana.
I bought the Kat two years ago from a mate who was going to live overseas. It was a bit rough around the edges so a complete resto was done. I wanted to do it totally original but an OEM exhaust is almost impossible to find but I had a few sets of GSX1400 mufflers lying around & found they were a good fit.SAM_2371.jpg The bike also came with a 4 in to 1 exhaust so the header pipes were used and I made some link pieces to join the mufflers. Black chroming the mufflers was going to be difficult so left them and got the other bits bright chromed.
Because of the wrong coloured exhaust I then went totally different & added some colour. First was the frame from silver to black so after a sand blast I set up a rotisserie & the painting began.SAM_2384.jpgSAM_2385.jpg The wheels were stripped & polished before coating with an orange engine enamel & clear coat. The rotors needed a skim so a cupped grinding wheel & rotary table was set up to do that job. SAM_2388.jpg The motor was OK so that got a clean & detail in the same orange as the wheels.SAM_2393.jpgSAM_2394.jpg With all of the other parts painted it was assembly time with this being the result.DSCN0212.jpg
