    Default Ewheels

Joe, I did use an Ewheel here’s some pics. That’s Vonryan doing the Al bike bit.
Back in 2012 before the gubverdmunt shut it down I went to North Sydney TAFE Autobody night course.
Did up a Datsun 1200 ute for my son and got friendly with the teachers.
One of them Vaughan Ryan asked me how to make a pattern in foam for an Ewheel about the same size as the plastic Chinese ones. He and his mate Georgio Rimi wanted to make one each. (I’m a Patternmaker by trade).
I said I would make the pattern and my mate Hugh (Fargo) woul machine them up if they paid for our castings at the Iron foundry I recommended. They agreed so an initial batch was cast and one machined up by Hugh. Hugh also nutted out and drew up the bits and pieces. I dummied up the handwheel of the Barker jointer at work to use as a pattern to raise and lower the bottom wheel.
The boys (now redunded from TAFE and trading as Motorretro) found there was a market and started selling them. I being a coc decided to have mine cast in tempered Al just because. It’s actually half the weight of the arn.
As It was to be a one off I just added some 6mm ply to make the centre rib about 38mm up from the iron at 25. The fillets were redone in plastersine.
About 30 have been sold and with a few minor astetic mods another batch of 12 is ready for machining.
I did put a post re this a few years back on the WW forum in Foundry it may be now over here.
