A bit of a bidding frenzy at the moment with about an hour before the auction ends.

Currently we have 9 bidders and the price is already a whooping $1200

I am sure its a good tool post grinder but that's too rich for my blood

At that price, time to make a mold and start casting a few

That's about the sort of money the pull at workshop liquidations, i don't see why, a CBN turning insert would do nearly everything a toolpost grinder can.
They are pretty simple, easy project for a hobbyist.

Dumore still make these "in the USA" (that's what they say) and their smallest model can be bought for USD 1150 (brand new). Although the 115v and postage is something to be considered since most are available through US sellers.

Boxford's "Little Giant" goes for about AUD 500 - 1000 but mostly only available through UK sellers and although they are 230v, postage is prohibitive.

I wonder what the Waldown C0 costed brand new when they were manufactured in OZ.

Anyways, seems like everyone has tapped out of the bidding frenzy and the auction has ended at AUD 1202. (Probably they realized they have offered more than what they wanted to pay for it )

Geez, might be time to sell mine, I've never used it and it just sits in it's box. I could use $1200.

    Hi Guys,

My tool post grinder is basically a Dremal held by the nose in the lathe tool post.
    Best Regards:

It must be worth that much to someone.

But trying to think practically about it, the prices are hard to justify.

Similar setup here but a Dremel or Proxxon grinder does leave a lot to be desired in terms of torque and sideward forces.

Works well for drilling hole patterns in a part.

The Proxxon has a better spindle in terms of runout over the Dremel but the aluminium nose design does wear out soon when used for milling and grinding.

I've used a 4" angle grinder held to the toolpost by rubber bands.
