From memory the Hercus 9v weighs around 250kg ish. Not sure where the 700kg number comes from as I doubt the stand weighs 450kg.

Even 2 strong men lifting or moving a lathe that heavy is fairly risky because its top heavy and unbalanced.

I've moved Hercus 9 inch lathes, when purchased and placed in my station wagon.
    Take some tools.
They are not difficult to break down into chunks that are manageable by one reasonably fit person.
The bed is the heaviest bit - no worries but a helper would make it really easy.
The headstock is self-aligning to the bed, so is easy to quickly reinstall.
    Don't believe the advertised weight.

    A random's.

Hercus 9 can be lifted off the base by 2 strong people, especially if you take the motor off (about 20% of the weight?)...

but I would use an engine lifting crane, and a trailer.

Noticed this has been up for a bit. Went down from 1500 to 1000 then 500 now its back up to $600

Looks like an ok deal depending on how bad the rust really is.

I've lifted one minus motor and bracket, chuck, tailstock gear cover and compound all removed. I had the heavy end and its very sketchy unless its just moving from waist height without any awkward manouvering required. I thought it was about 120kg - 130kg with the stand and mentioned parts removed. I guess I was holding about 70% of that weight
