Gear Hobbing Machine Newcastle $200
I have no idea what I'm looking at here but it seems like a bargain.
I get to be first in the queue for a cash job if someone here buys it

Nice, but a little big for my shed. Probably similar to the one that Ash has.
Plenty of people here cut gears though, so if you need a change gear or something say so as someone may assist

That's an absolute bargain, id be all aver it if i could get there to get it, for reference a similar sized hob in slightly better condition went for about $4000 at the TREG's auction. looks like it is missing part of the tailstock, and the change gears ( over half of the hobs i have ever seen for sale are missing change gears or have very incomplete sets.)

Quite common with most used machines & tools.
People take (or walk away with) the most useful and rare parts. And the new owner has to go through the pain of finding or making replacements.
Several examples of people buying a “cheap lathe” for cheap and spending the same amount to get the missing bits just to get it to the point of basic turning.
If its not complete, then I am no longer interested.

Wow, an original WWI-era Pfauter. He literally invented hobbing (patent in 1897). This guy's done a restoration on the same machine, looks like his was missing the tailstock entirely https://www.flickr.com/photos/epytec...n/photostream/
Every gear cutting machine we own came with a complete set of gears. It may be necessary to make some extras to cut strange numbers of teeth (large primes) or to avoid multiple compound gear trains, but hobbing machines are sold as universal tools so I would be very surprised if they didn't ship with everything.Gear cutting specialists and general engineers www.hardmanbros.com.au
