Everything I want is nowhere near me, of course.

What concerns me about this add is the photo's are 4 years old, a lot can happen in 4 years.

TBH I didn't look too hard once I discovered it's halfway across the country. I also see that it has a two tone paint job.

Agree a lot can change in 4 years unless the mill has not been used and left in storage or they never found much work to do with it.
The 2 tone paint job makes me feel as if that is a replacement and probably indicates an accident happened at some stage. A bit of a frankenstein to me. If only we can get the real story.
Good thing is that its in a warehouse type facility and on a pallet which makes moving it a breeze. There may actually be a pallet jack or a forklift on-site.
There are several reasons to come down to Adelaide while you inspect the mill like some Coppers and schnitzels Happy to show you around.
Edwardstown is just 20 mins away from me and if you are interested then I can help see the mill and take photos or make a video or even a facetime/whatsapp video call for you to inspect it better. I do not have a trailer to move it around but can help coordinate that for you. Just trying to offer any help I can.

I cannot work out the knee of this mill? It looks like a different shape than I have seen before.
It would be interesting to know the history of this machine. As mentioned above, the 2 tone paint job is not a good sign.

two tone?. looks more like lighting effects rather than two tone.

The knee and saddle sections are clearly a different colour compared to the rest of the mill rather than just a difference in shade due to directional illumination.

Hah. That would be an interesting discussion with the fun police.
Realistically I don't think buying interstate is a real option. I can't move it myself so once I add freight on I might as well buy something overpriced up here.
I only keep an eye on the other states so I know what I'm missing out on. The clone was probably a better deal but there is some appeal to the genuine article. Probably wouldn't pay a premium just for the name though.

I had a similar experience thinking about buying a lathe from Brisbane and working out the logistics was a pain.
At times if its the right deal then perhaps it’s worth the hassle.
Lots of machinery on sale all over the country and its all about being patient enough to find one locally.
Although my patience has run out several times looking for a S7b-PXF locally several times over the years and every now and then I come back to the idea of owning one and realize I missed out on a few good deals. One example is a big bore version was sold a few years ago just 20km from me and I was on a short assignment in Wellington NZ, only to come back and realize what I missed out on. Such is life.
