I'd be seriously thinking about it if I had room in the shed.

A Shed is not a shed without a shaper!
Besides, they don't take up that much room - really!!

As luck would have it, I have ended up with a Douglas Shaper in my shed, and, subsequently in my head.!
Cleaning seamed the obvious first step. Which has lead to some understanding. But there are more questions, many, many more questions!
I've got no experience with forums and such, searching has not produced any operation manual. HELP..

    Welcome to the Forum!

Some really knowledgeable people here, and then there are lots like myself - stumbling along and still learning - but having a great time!

I have a pdf of a pamphlet for the Douglas. I can't remember where I down loaded it from, but if you want a copy, send me a Private Message (PM). To do this click on my name, and a drop down menu will appear.

New England Model Engineering Society (NEME-S) have lots of Shaper information - thanks to the knowledge and effort of Mr Kay Fisher.
    Metal Shaper FAQ

Yes, I have a Douglas shaper.

    Regards,
    Alan.

    G'day Allan,
It is great to have come so far as to have elicited a response. I've read around here enough to be sure you're right about the knowledge here: thanks to you all. Sifting is the thing!

There are two immediate questions the have me stalled on my mission to make this lovely Douglas thing do something. Any knowledge you'd share would be a boon.

    1. As I understand the work table block can be supported by the brace that is clamped to the front of the machine. Missing from my machine is the pin that rests on that brace. There is a hole to receive it, 1/2" ish. (remember I'm new at this) and a threaded hole for what I'd call a 'grub screw' to retain it. What's the story with this pin?

2.The other crucial missing bit is the motor pulley and motor. Some clear advice about motor speed and pulley size would be very helpful.

Old D/62/1245 is much cleaner than when she arrived, But there may be some way to go.

    Cheers Neil
