There is always another one. If it does not come up soon tho I may buy a new one. More money than I want to spend but I may get tired of waiting. Of course I should at least wait until I get my shed sorted, old lathe out, concrete slab laid, new lathe in and wiring updated LOL.

PS. I would have gone higher than your limit.

    Default Schaublin 13-He's Dreamin

Both Bob and I paid less than half what is being asked here and ours came with more accessories etc., Bob's with genuine Schaublin accessories and mine with other sweeteners like a bandsaw.
This one is pictured with the standard table which is probably more rigid than the multi axis table but rather limits the machines capabilities(see some of Bob's earlier pictures of his set-ups).
This machine is the same as Bobs and is probably from the 60's, the manufacture date is on a plate on the right hand side of the machine. Mine was made in 1955 and is machine number 206.
Are you considering this machine Ewan?

    Hi Mm,
No, just stumbled onto it looking at the macines4u site. I had no idea what they were worth so i thought i would ask. It seems though that double a reasonable price is about what dealers charge, i guess they have to make a living but it strikes me that if they dropped their prices they would move way more machines.
If/when i buy a "new" mill it will be a biggish one, at least 800 x travel...as nice as a 13 would be it wouldn't come even come close to that!

    Default Maybe a WRE survivor.

I reckon there's a chance that 13 bumped shoulders with mine. It looks as if it has been "duluxed" at some stage. Mine has been, albeit very carefully. The original black lettered "SCHAUBLIN" has been overpainted, like mine. The longitudinal slide's vertical face appears to be in good nick. Like Phillip says, the pricing is stiff. You'd expect to pay that for the revised model 13, introduced around 1967, in reasonable condition. I have seen later model 13s with an asking price of 7000 -9000 Euros. Schaublin even offered refurbished late model mills - Schaublin 13 Sadly, not too many bargains to be found in Switzerland.

ps. I wonder what serviced means? Oil nipples freshly greased?

Thanks for the heads up. I have been looking at dealers but have been very busy lately and have not done the rounds for a bit. Mostly they are too expensive for me.

Sadly NO. My limit is around $1500 or maybe a bit over if I really have to. I have considered MILLING MACHINE - DOVETAIL SHAFT » Paramount Browns' if nothing better comes up in second hand market. Any experience with this unit anyone?

This retailer is not my favourite due to past issues but this appears to be the best unit I can find within this price range. This price is the very highest I could go and will take some tricky negotiations with the Finance Controller / Minister of War. I will need to come up with some really good benefits to convince her. This is where the purchase of a table saw is going to be relatively easy. Think house restoration, built-in cupboards etc and the situation is well under hand. ot so easy with a Mill.

Yes, this is exactly what I am looking for.
However, a bit hard to justify.
But then, does everything have to be justified?
