Using Cornice Cement or Base Coat for lost wax molding process
Hi guys,
whilst i did some university study in foundry many years ago, and taught a little in my high school teaching days, i havent been involved in foundry work in 20 years...so i am very rusty.
I have been refreshing my memory with lots of diy youtubers videos on a variety of casting processes. I have lots of questions...I will post them separately on new threads.
question...
I note that one of the methods used in making a mold with lost wax method is plaster of paris.
Now i know that plaster of paris is based on gypsum however the variety used in gyprock products are a little different from plaster of paris.
Has anyone ever tried using cornice cement or basecoat for mold making and casting aluminium?

High quality investment will produce a far better result, and for the price why would you bother with cornice cement, I would be surprised if it survived the burn out furnace.
