Default Lost Wax vs. Clay Casting

I am planning on casting an engagement ring that will house one round cut diamond. It will have the pieces sticking out for the stone's setting. If cost is a factor, what is the best method for casting this ring? It is for a friend of mine so I don't want to mess up.

Clay casting is similar to casting in sand moulds in the sense that there is a parting line. This would probably not allow you to mould all the features that you need, such as the claws that hold the stone. Investment casting may cost more but also may be the only way to cast what you need.
