Kraits, Have you thought about using a fan out a car! Could be a cheaper way to go especialy if you can do some scrounging and have an old usable battery around?

i spoke with a fella from abasa today who suggested the same thing, i need a greater volume, forge is over 1200X600mm with a 100mm pipe leading into it, looking at a inline can fan for about $300, 15m3 per minute shoud do it, also is wired for a variable speed switch, will order in the morning just won't tell my wife

Thats some nice work there Kraits, i will put some pics up when i get a chance to take some of stuff we have round the house. Most of the pics i have are "real" ones and i don't have a scanner.
I particularly like the candle holder made from the pipe, it would take some care to fuller the neck without the whole lot collapsing.
Its good to have this new forum, makes me miss my forge even more though.....it will be set up again sometime...soon....i hope.
PS, i'm told that old dryers are a good source of blowers.....personally i have a 5' set of double chamber bellows, only used an electric blower a couple of times, hated it cause i kept forgetting to turn it off or down whilst striking and the fire kept burning hollow....1915 17"x50" LeBlond heavy duty Lathe, 24" Queen city shaper, 1970's G Vernier FV.3.TO Universal Mill, 1958 Blohm HFS 6 surface grinder, 1942 Rivett 715 Lathe, 14"x40" Antrac Lathe, Startrite H225 Bandsaw, 1949 Hercus Camelback Drill press, 1947 Holbrook C10 Lathe.

pipe was quite easy to make, got the idea of iforeiron gallery, just used a cross pein, a straight pein and the edge of the anvil, shaped the end over the horn and it basically made it's self.
ive been thinking about getting one of those big E stops wired up as a foot pedal for an on off switch, might even think about some kind of timmer to avoid what you have mentioned with it continuing to burn, ive wasted so much coke doing the same thing, the sisalation on the roof has seen better days as a result of the flames reaching up into the range hood.
can't wait to see some of your pics, something else i can plagerise once i get this blower soughted out my next project will be with a a couple of dog spikes i picked up on the Odnadatta track a few weeks back, will forge them together and draw them out to make a cork screw, well thats the plan atleast.
