    Default The hoisty thing

As per my metalwork project post, here is the redundant hoist.
    Crane dims.jpg hoist (Small).jpg
As the finely drawn sketch says - 1.3m travel on the chain, and total weight is around 8.2kg. The crank has a weird friction clutch on it that means even if you have a heavy load on the hook, it stays put until you start cranking.
For those with a knowledge of SA history, this came from Redwood machinery, buried in the back shed - I had to hunt for the handwheel as it had been separated for some reason. The chain runs down the boom and then the leg, so the blue frame it is mounted on has a hole in it to let the chain hang (I added a small counterweight to the end to help it run)

You get everything from the black block up - that block is fixed and the hoist swivels 360 degrees around that. I'm looking for $120 for it.

    Hello Michael

Does this happen to come into 2 pieces. For example the arm that heads up at around 45 degrees, is it easily removable, it looks so in the photo. The weight would be good to pack in a bag for air travel but the arm that is sticking out would make it troublesome. If it does I am keen. I would not be able to pick it up until between May 8th and 16th. If you want it out of your shed earlier I could arrange to have it picked up.

    Thanks Steve

Is that the same as the “Skyhook” which is made in America? It looks very similar maybe with another brands label attached.

For full visibility for all viewers I have sent a PM to Michael saying I would like to buy if we can sort out pickup. Hopefully we can and I get a new crane. If we do I will message on here for full transparency.

Hi Steve, at work, some of our products go to Queensland. I could try to find out if anything is going that way or near to you, so that it maybe closer to collect, if it helps?

Thanks for the offer. I will be visiting my daughter in 5 weeks time and she lives about 15 minutes from Michael. If it breaks down I will just put it in my bag. If not I may contact you and see what we can sort.

Looks very similar to the Sky Hook.

Looks like it's yours Steve -

Better bring your best towels to wrap it in (I'm sure the better half will quite understand...)

It's a UK product I think. Given its age, it could well be that other brands have copied it.

Thanks very much Michael. I will PM to sort payment and pickup options. Yes I have all ready mentioned it to the better half. Understand luckily has a broad meaning, but after 30 plus years I think she is used to what I pack into a big duffel bag. She seemed to thing postage was practical but why post when you can carry.
