Default 350mm Brobo 3PH Cold Saw on stand with castors + 240V 1PH Motor - Not Wired!

Hi all, this is a really substantial 350mm "F" model Brobo Cold Saw, everything about it is heavy duty. $350 ONO.

It has a 3PH motor that supports 240V and/or 415V, so it can be re-wired for 3PH directly, or used with a standard 2.2kW VFD in 240V wiring configuration.

I originally planned to just swap the motor out, and bought a new (and very expensive) heavy duty 240V Onga pump motor matching the RPM but just never got around to it, and likely never will. Motor is brand new but has some tarnish on the shaft end from the shed. Looking back I should have just added a VFD at the time to make things easy.

I got as far as disconnecting all the 3PH wiring, and started to machine a thin sleeve for the pulleys as from memory the spindle on the new motor is slightly thinner diameter than the original, but virtually anything could be used to pack it out.

The original 3PH motor wiring has been removed as mentioned, but can be very easily restored with some 4-core wiring (I don't have any sorry), and the Star/Delta wiring is shown on the cover if you wanted to use a VFD instead with this motor. Re-wiring for 3PH is very simple indeed.

If changing the motor to the 1PH Onga I can supply plenty of cabling to suit. Hooking up the wiring is really trivially easy and very straight forward.

Happy to sell the saw on it's own as I paid several hundred for the Onga motor and could use it for other projects.

Saw is bolted to a heavy duty frame that has been attached to a base with castors to make moving it a little easier.

I really need this to go, so have priced it accordingly a great deal less than I originally paid for the saw. Pickup from near Dandenong.

I’d really like to take it off your hands, but I’m not sure where we currently sit with crossing borders to pick it up. I’ll pm later this evening to see what we can work out once I’ve been through the current requirements

I believe coming from NSW is the only restriction, requiring self isolation.

All other states according to https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/t...stralian-state don't have any requirements and can come and go as they please.

    cheers, Ian

As I really, really, need to clear this ASAP, and assuming that most people interested would be connecting a VFD to the original 3PH 2.2kW motor, I'm happy to sell the saw on it's own (without the 240V Onga pump motor I bought) for $200 flat!

That's a helluva lotta saw for $200, and a fraction of what it cost me!

All that's needed is to run a mains plug, and cable the VFD to the switch/motor after setting the wire bridges for 240v mode as per the diagram on the housing.

    Easy Peasy!

No gear box, so this must be for cutting aluminium not steel?

Yes, I noticed that as well but I did not want to mention it. I hope those that are interested in it realise that.

I could be wrong, but so far as I'm aware the Brobo Waldon NF350 (Non-Ferrous) is the Aluminium model, this is the Brobo Waldon F350 (Ferrous) model.

When I got this one I already had a low rpm cold saw (that I also didn't end up using and sold last year!), so I had planned to use it for aluminium as the guy I bought it off said the blade would be fine for Alu, and had just recently been re-sharpened, but of course I never ended up using it either!

I do note too that most of the commonly available (non-industrial) cold saws are around the 1300-2500rpm range.

Ok, last call at $100 for the saw and the stand before I scrap it for parts as I really need it out of my way!

I had a look at the blade (which had been re-sharpened just prior to my buying it) and it has the following details:

Kinkelder HM (Hard Metal from what I can find?)

    6342 NKL

    350 x 3.67

Howdy. I am looking for a cheap cold saw and this might fit the bill. Where did the discussion get to regarding steel cutting? This one does steel?

My only issue is being in good old Adelaide so I would need to look into the cost of freighting it from you to a depot over here. Do you happen to know the dimensions and weight?

Hi Steve, I just replied to Mk1, and if he doesn't take it or respond back it's yours!

I think the shipping would prove prohibitive anyway for him as it's bloody heavy!

Do you have a ute or trailer?

    cheers, Ian

I will step aside and let Steve grab it. I am sure I could get it freighted here but it might end up being a headache. Enjoy it Steve!!
