    Default 1/2" Mill Clamping Sets

Got a job lot at an auction, now rationalizing.
Mixture of 1/2" Whitworth, 1/2" UNC and M12.
Reluctantly keeping the M12, and I will post a thread in the General section discussing why.

    Each set $50.

    0.5" W compr.JPG0.5" UNC compr.JPG

Pickup in Kingswood, or a reasonable drive distance to meet for chat and take-away lunch (in a park in a non-hotspot !).

    Keep well,
    John.

Each sale set consists of what is in its particular photo:
    - one complete set in holder, plus a partial set in holder, plus a few extras - all to the thread form labelled on the holder.

    Keep well,
    John.

John, I'm interested in the 1/2"WW set.

Could I trouble you to measure the Tnut profile?

My borrowed mill's Tslots are 16.5mm in the top, 26.4mm in the bottom.

(assume these the usual Demco style that H&F has been selling for 40 years)

    Measured 4 of the 1/2" W T-nuts:

Slot width: 15.5 to 15.9 mm

Flange width: 25.5 to 25.8 mm

Flange height: 7.8 to 9.6 mm

Overall height: 15.9 to 19.0 mm

    John.

Nigel got his 1/2" W set some time ago.
We met and had coffee, a splendid chap.

But, no messages from the other early respondent, in spite of me providing my house phone number on two occasions.
Why do members jump in to volunteer to take offered items, then not even contact the seller as to their situation.
It really spoils it for everyone.

Anyway, the 1/2" UNC set is still available.
    Available for pick-up in Kingswood.

As a side comment, I still regard the W thread form as superior for mill clamping.
The slightly reduced thread flank angle, rounded peaks and greater pitch do make a difference to usability in the real world of frequent set/release in a swarf-rich environment.

    Keep well,
    John
