I've got an evap cooler which is getting on. I also know that the pump is a common part that wears out.

Since the price was right it was worth a punt on it of being potentially of use in the future.

Was thinking that I might have had another pump that may have suited...but that was the only evap pump I had.

You know they need to be correctly sized to suit the evap cooler...too much water and it can get sucked into the fan with water oroblems in roof...too little and pads dont get saturated enough to have efficient cooling. If you need one I still have an account with suppliers.

Last time I replaced one I bought a way too big universal one because it was cheaper than an OEM part by enough to make me cringe. I made a diverter return with a T piece and an old stainless ball valve I had left off something else. Wasn’t overly pretty but it worked well.

You can get get a plastic flow control valve which does the same but at a fraction of price. All it does is restict the discharge....in the old days we used a two piece clamp...2 bits of flat steel which went iether side if flexible tubing and screwed together at each end until you achieved clamp and restricted the flow. The flow valves I speak of are available at hardware stores. The pumps are no overloading so does not matter if you restrict discharge flow...just dont restrict suction.
