All those taps and dies
I finally finished cataloguing most of those taps and dies that I got a few months back. Most seem to be WW, although there is a small amount of UN, metric, BSP and some of the constant pitch series.
I've attached a PDF with a listing, but a few 'conditions of sale' to start with -
- Those people who asked for specific sizes of things should have them by now if they were there.
- There are too many items to photograph. I will take pictures on an individual request basis for less usual or critical items, but we all know in general what taps and dies look like right?
- Condition of these things is variable. There is a tiny bit of new stuff, but most is used. Most is in fair condition but one or two items have been affected by flight rust - should clean up though. To me it looks like the lot was an estate sale sort of clearance of an old school model engineer's gear in a back yard shed. Be guided by that.
- I've made these lists as best I can, but error can creep in. If the condition, size or type of an item is critical, then please ask first. Otherwise I am assuming that people are just buying to top up their collections, and so are not too fussed about what they are getting
- To state it formally, I'm not trying to make money on this lot; rather this is to share out the largesse. There are far more individual items here than I thought and it has taken some time to sort through. If you want a full progression of sizes then the best plan is to buy a block or two with the sizes you need and I may be willing to find any missing if you are a member of long/ good standing. However, I am not spending hours putting together sets just because someone wants to avoid duplicates. You will get faster service and better discounts if I don't have to spend too much time sorting what you want from what is here.
- Multiple taps, particularly in the block sets usually means that there are 2 or 3 styles (ie intermediate, taper and bottoming). Some of the bottoming are just taps that have been cut down. Because of this, I'm setting the price of taps at $2 each and dies at $3 each. However, as I don't want to be mucking around with ones and twos, I'm going to ask that people buy at least $10. But - if you buy a goodly quantity or a complete block's worth, I'll probably knock something off the price.
- There is no BA at the moment (the little there was has been spoken for), and as can be seen there are not that many reamers for those wanting to build a collection. Most of the reamers are in good condition, so if you want one or two I'm asking $15 each. More than that and I'll knock some money off. Milling cutters/ slot drills say $7.50 each
- When asking for items, please include the heading it is under so I can find it. The block sets are mounted in a wooden block. You can have that if you want or I can send you the items and put the block in the burn bin.
- Postage is of course at your expense if you don't pick up. I can hold stuff for a little while pending pick-up, but unless prior arrangements are made, don't leave it too long.
- As per marketplace rules, response order to this thread will dictate who is in line for what (remembering you may lose your place if it is not clear what you are after...). PM's will only be used to swap addresses, bank details and other things once a sale has been agreed.
- I don't want this to drag on for ever, so I reserve the right to get rid of any or all of these bits that have not been spoken for by 15th Jan. I will post to this thread if listed items become unavailable through non-forum means before that date.

I would like to take all of the whitworth taps provided no one else needs a particular size for a specific job.
