I'm making up a new cross slide screw for a member and last weekend did not go well...
The blank slipped in the dog so 2/3 of the screw has an extra pass on it. I had hoped that subsequent passes would take it out, but it did not.

No good for a lathe so I've made another one, but this may still be good for an adjuster or something. There is enough good thread to mould an acetal nut. The screw is 5mm pitch, LH and around 10" long. Either end there is around 100mm of material, 13mm or so in diameter.
I just thought I'd offer it up in case anyone has a need. (motor tensioner, opening actuator etc) Otherwise I'll turn the thread off and use it for "stuff".

I would have taken a good one for my taper attachment that I need to make to suit my unworn nut lol. What material do you use and source of supply?
Will come in handy for someone with a table saw rise and fall etc.Using Tapatalk

It's just a bit of 1020 from my local steel supplier. I could toss it but I thought it may be useful for someone (the photo does not do it justice - the out of place cut is very slight).
As you say, for something like a rise and fall mechanism, perfectly alright.
