Default For sale: Drummond hand-operated shaper in Sydney

For description and images please see my post: https://metalworkforums.com/f305/t20...42#post1949942

Since I posted that, further exploration suggests that the number '790' stamped on several of the parts is actually the serial number, see Drummond Shaper.
That serial number and the details of my shaper indicate that it is the Mk 2 version, and likely made between 1925 and 1928.
Weight of the uncrated shaper is around 41-42 kg.

    Price $450.
I should mention up front that I would really prefer the shaper to be picked up from me (inner West of Sydney) rather than having to build a transport crate for it. Having done that before, I found it neither quick or easy to devise a protective crate for an awkwardly-shaped and hard-to replace item such as this. Rough handling in transit is a risk for a small item like this, and the carriers seem to think that it is robust because it is heavy for its size, which of course does not apply to cast iron with thin sections and projecting bits. However I will consider crating if that is what it takes, but may ask for an increase in the price.

Please observe Forum rules for Market Place sales: https://metalworkforums.com/f90/t202688-market-rules.

    Cheers,
    Bill

    Andre,

Happy to show it to you!
Only condition is that a selling agreement is to be conducted here, but I will PM you with my address and contact details.
(Moderator please advise if this type of pre-sale PM is acceptable).
But first, when does it suit you to visit (inner west of Sydney)?

    Cheers,
    Bill

Bill, if it's not already taken, I'll take it. I'm away on a business trip at the moment, will be back in a couple of days and will come and pick it up when it suits you.

This is my third try to post a reply - if Waxen hasn't bought it then I'll take it. I keep getting a note that my post is being moderated, but it never appears in the thread.

I think you'll find that your messages, ads etc will be moderated as you are a relatively new member, I think it disappears after 10 posts.

Thanks for the beautiful machine, Bill. You've obviously taken excellent care of it while in your possession. The slideway grinding seems to have been done really well.

The challenge for me will be to do it as much justice as you did.
