    Default Nikon optical comparator

Bought this comparator a couple of years ago. It takes up some space, but its pretty neat for checking profiles or surfaces. It has no templates, but they can be printed out from a drawing program on transparency plastic for clipping to the viewing screen. It is currently in Thomastown at Machtool's factory.

I'd like 1% of the new price, ie $150

So what do you use it for? Might have to do some reading so I'll know when I need one.

    Hi Fly,
I've only ever used them in profile*. You could for example draw the tool shape(many times full size) you want then use this to compear how your tool grinding is going.

Need? no no you dont need one....... but then neither do I, whats need got to do with it? lol

*I have no idea what you'd use them for in surface mode, I'm not even sure what it looks like in surface mode
    Stuart

p.s. "them" maybe a little missleading........ I've used exactly one, and I cant cant recall at the minute what for.

Sold to Stu. Thanks fellas. Surface mode is used for examining fine details with a side light. It seems usefuln to me when I had a play. Time for coffee and a shower...its 3:00 AM! Oh the glamour!
