    Default Chasing Old Crosslide spindles

Hi Guys, has anyone changed their crosslide spindle and nut lately
I bought in America a length of thread and a new nut and you just cut drill and ream then machine the other down to make a snug fit then you pin together
So I am chasing just the spindles or to be more precise the gear section on the bottom slide and a complete top crosslide spindle
I threw the old ones away as they were so worn but lucky me never read the ad correct and what I got is 300mm of threaded shaft and a new nut

So has anybody held onto their old spindles as I would be happy to get just any spindle worn or any condition so long as it has the gear drive for the cross feed as the model C never had that option
Hoping someone can help me out as the end is in site after 13 Months and mutiple modifications it looks like a lathe
Sohas anybosy got some old spindles ?????

Bitsa try hercus as the cross slide and nut is the same on the 260 series I believe and they have parts for the 260 series.

    Default Re Crosslide screw

Hi Gene, I am only chasing the gear section off the shaft as I am modifying my crosslide and I have a new shaft now but want to experiment and the gear section is sort of stopping me I can make the spindle up but would not have a auto crossfeed
As My Hercus is now 2" higher than standard and the Crosslide is so heavily modified that I now need a longer spindle as the crosslide touches the crosslide handle so I have to extend the spindle about 1 1/2" so my T-Slot crosslide can be used to it fullest extent
I was silly enough to throw out my old shafts as they were worn out and my mate had them plated by Accident ??? and the spindle and nut ended up seizing up as the plating started peeling off so I bought new ones from the States but do not want to cut up a good spindle in case it does not work
Sooner or later I will find one or if not I will have to make one as I have the machinery to do it but was hoping someone had a worn out spindle so I could cut and modify and see if it works
