Default Hercus 260 ATM Pulley shaft removal

Hi all, I've acquired a 260 lathe and have been disassembling it to clean and check it over. It has a few issues which I'll be asking you fine folks about. The first is how to remove the shaft that holds the speed reduction pulleys. It seems to have sealed bearings in the housings on either end but I don't know whether the shaft should press out from the bearings or do I have to somehow remove the housings from the lathe first?

Hi, The easiest way to get it apart is remove the assembly, there is a grub screw that holds the pivot shaft in place on the right hand side (close to the tension lever), push that out and then undo the bolt holding the the 2 halves together, just be aware there is another key on the shaft as well on for the cone pulley that may cause an issue if you are trying to press it out and were not aware of it.

Thanks, I did remove the whole assembly and then it did become obvious. I also had the opportunity to do it all again as I installed the wrong belt...

You only need to push the shift half way through and undo the bolt and swing one side up to change the belt on the counter shift if it is the later split type
