they were better than sliced bread.
Anything is better than sliced white bread!

On the CNC lathe I use gang tooling, all preset. That way I don't have to swap tools all the time.

Most of that is home-made too.

I got my Hercus for nothing and figured I could then afford some tooling and extras. A QCTP and collets were the first things I bought for my Hercus and they became the usual slippery slope of buying stuff for the lathe. Since then I have easily forked the $ equivalent of the average price of a small used lathe on tooling and extras. Some things get used much more than others but the two most used "extras" are the QCTP and the Eccentric Engineering diamond tool holders. I bought my QCTP as a 6 piece set from Australian Metalwork Hobbist for <$200 (now $215) and since then have bought 6 more tool holders.

For me it's the QCTP and the ER40 collet chuck (made by pipeclay). If you're making multiple identical parts, a QCTP turns the job from a chore into a joy. I learned to hate my 4-way toolpost very early on in my metalwork journey. A turning & facing tool, chamfering tool and parting off tool are the minimum number of tools for any job I do. I reckon I'd find a new hobby if I had to go back to a 4-way!

    Um?
I am missing something here. Help!
(It's not the EF collet series per se.)

    Roger,
I have an ER40 collet chuck that was made by one of our members, Peter (username pipeclay). Sorry for the confusion.
