Painting a lathe bed.
I have started to paint my Hercus bed
After 3 coats of paint you can still see the raised bits of the cast iron through it.
What is the best way to cover them?
Don’t know if it is shiite paint I bought from bunnings or not?

Paint is not filler.
For a full and proper rebuild do not forget to paint the ways and the leadscrew.Gold, the colour of choice for the discerning person.

Painting a lathe bed.
Follow what Auto guys do, on body work.
I would suggest rub your paint back to key the surface, and apply a thin coat of Auto body filler, and smooth that out using sandpaper on a block.
Then re prime and start your painting.
This is really a simple run through,
Cheers Matt.

A rotating abrasive flap disc can smooth the high spots before painting.
