Default Attachments that are in a school

Hi All, just thought I would share a few pics of what I have come across in a school recently and before anyone asks, NO it is not available, No I will not give out the name of the school, it is just purely to look at and wish it was in our sheds... i thought that the slotting head was a cool little piece of kit, I have never seen one before and the milling attachments were almost a complete set up minus a couple of threaded adaptors.

    Interesing photos, thanks.
    Are the accessories still accessible?
I'm wondering if it's possible there is a toolbit holder for the slotting head. It fits to the short T-slot.
I have a slotting head like that with this part missing, and a dimensioned sketch would be nice to have.

Ha! Your reluctance to name the school gives it away! Obviously it is St Jude's catholic school (Patron saint of lost causes...)

A slotting head like that should not be hard to make - it appears to be simply a slide with a linkage converting the rotary motion to linear (I'm guessing that the gearing knocks the speed down a littletoo). You'd probably want to fabricate the case as the casting would be the most expensive bit, but other than that...

Probably not that uncommon for educational facilities to buy accessorised Hercus equipment.

More uncommon that they still have them and have not been dumped in the bin over the decades.

Unfortunately there was a mishmash of bits and pieces from different schools so there were bits missing that should have been there and teachers had no idea what it was but they are reluctant to give it up, if I get to go back I will see if there is a tool holder there for the slotting head but I don't think there was.

I like your thinking there Michael, you could just be on to something!!!

Photo 4 looks like a taper turning attachment if you haven't guessed already.

    Something like this JP?

The body is 2" long and 1" in diameter, the slot, 5/8 "wide. The slot starts 3/8" from the bottom and is 1 1/8" in length. The base is 11/16" wide and it's 11/16" from the bottom of the base to the commencement of the round body.'' The bevel is 30 degrees and the hole tapped 3/8" BSW. The screw is from a 9's saddle lock.

Where the bevel starts is the only missing dimension.
