I have been using these 3D printed change gears on my old Seneca Falls 9" machine for metric conversion (63T/64T & 50T) and they work surprisingly well.
I was contemplating doing some 3D printed gears, but thought they would last 3 minutes... but you've convinced me to give a shot when I'm up to that point.
I'll be off to a toolmaker mate tomorrow and I'm going to pick his brains on gear making. I know the 'basics', but I've never cut one before and have no tools/mill to do it anyway, so it'll be Theory 101 for me!
Thanks Aaron, I was going to retire it for a nice shiny new one, but I really like it - now I wish I had a 4 jaw to match!
Here's a link to the Lathes UK website about Taylor chucks... Taylor conical scroll lathe chucks It makes some interesting reading.
And if anyone is interested, here's a you-tube video blog of my rebuild progress - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5soZkKg6_NY&t=95s - just the strip down so far, but there's more on the way

Thanks Donaldo, I didn't realise it would do that... I'll remember the tip for future!
