Hercus 9 QCTP
Greetings Everyone
Before I go and spend an amount equivalent to the GDP of most small island nations on quick change stuff for my 9” would someone from the brains trust here mind confirming that the 100 series AXA is the correct size for that machine.
Based on some other threads I’ve seen here I’m going to go to Aussee Machine, example linked below.

Thanks

Maybe look on this page, he sells similar products.
AXA Series Wedge Quick Change Tool Post Set ,Up to12"_Machine Tool Access._M&G Productions
FWIW the knurling tool isn't great on a Hercus, you will be better with a scissor type knurling tool as the machines are too light to make it work correctly.
He also sells just the tool post and other holders by themselves., I might have 12 holders

Thanks for the help everyone, much appreciated. My plan is to buy a tool post and probably somewhere in the vicinity of 30 general purpose holders, and maybe 5 boring bar holders. I can probably fill somewhere around 20 of them straight up and have a few for expansion. Having just got the lathe out storage having had a forced hiatus from it for a while I’m keen to get organised. I’ll post up some pictures when I get more organised.

Hi racingtadpole,
Whilst I am not against QCTP, I am an advocate of build your own ! For commercial use I would completely agree with you, but not for hobby use ! Too expensive, you are just swapping cost for time. Plus there is the satisfaction of having made it yourself.
My personal one and the one I use is the "Norman" patent tool holder.

This first picture is the latest "Norman" tool post and is of my rear parting tool held in a split clamp. The last two pictures are the normal front tool holder. I've now three of these, but I find that it is so versatile I haven't needed to make any more.Best Regards:
Baron J.
