    Default Misadventures with an ARM

About 18mths or so ago when I took the 9” out storage I plonked a massively oversize single phase motor on it, which made the motor brace and live side belt guard not fit, and meant I haven’t had reverse.
Because I had to do some other unplanned maintenance (completely not through a lack of diligence on my part I swear) I figured I may as well fix everything..
Spent way longer than necessary building an overly complicated motor steady, and cutting/welding various parts of the backing plate for the guard to make it all clear the ridiculously big motor I fitted (was .5HP now has 1.5HP because that was what the supplier had in stock in that frame pattern at the time).
Even got off my backside and sorted out the switching for reverse.

So four days later, I finally have a 9” ARM that looks like it’s supposed to (overly complicated rose jointed motor support not withstanding ). Yes a piece of flat bar would have worked, except I can’t leave home at the moment, and don’t have any in the right size, or even close, so I built with what was on hand, which weirdly enough was was you see.
And yes, if you’re a purist you probably won’t like the fact I drilled and tapped the overhead riser, I care not (actually the reason it took 4days, was because I stuffed about forever trying not to).

Anyway, done now, and pretty happy with the end result.
