    Default 260 turret lathe

Hi all, I found this on the net whilst I was looking around at Hercus stuff, I have emailed the person via the email address but have not had a reply from them, it looks a bit unusual as it looks like it must have been factory ordered as is, the lead screw is missing and the half nut lever is just a cover without a handle and comes with a burnard collet chuck.

Not necessarily a bit unusual, as with the turret the lead screw (for cutting threads) would not necessarily be used. A conventry type head is more likely.
To convert it to a leadscrew lathe would be difficult as it looks as if the change gears are missing too. An interesting find though.

It is a manufacturing lathe. Other makers converted their standard models to a manufacturing model in similar ways.
Gold, the colour of choice for the discerning person.

It was interesting to see the few little changes that had been made to it like the cover for the half nut lever and the cross feed screw on the cut off slide instead of the lever action rack and pinion set up that is normally used, I just thought that some people would be interested in seeing what else Hercus did as factory options that you don't see every machine with, when you look at it, it was quite well optioned with the rear splash guard and coolant tank and the light, they weren't overly cheap options, even the cabinet stand and electrical panel were not exactly cheap to buy originally and I would hate to think what that collet chuck would have been worth to buy with the collets.
