    Default Help with Sheraton lathe

Can anyone help identify a spring from a early 9" A model.
I was fortunate enough to buy a greased up but little used one and have stripped it down, cleaned, painted and reassembled only to find I have a spring left over that I cannot figure out. It is 1" long by 3/4" wide made of thick wire.image.jpg
I've had a old 9" A. Hercus for a couple of years and still can't find where it belongs.
look forward to any help anyone can give me.
    Thanks Jeff

(Uneducated guess) Does it fit on the tailstock clamping bolt ? i.e.What is the internal diameter?

Read something on the UK lathes site about the Sheraton having a spring loaded bed clamping plate for tailstock.

The inside diameter is 13.5mm. I have the tail stock Spring it is longer and lighter.
Got me beat, maybe it was in there but not really doing anything. It's had a lot of years for mods.
    thanks Jeff
