Default What motor for a Hercus 9"?

Hi everyone, i'm currently in the process of restoring an old 9" i got from an old tech school.

Of the many things needing attention is a new motor. I've been trying find a suitable replacement to bolt directly to the existing motor mount plate but am having no luck finding something with a matching bolt pattern.

Measuring the bolt pattern i come up with 124x86 mm. This roughly corresponds to 4 7/8" by 3 3/8". As far as i know the mount plate is the standard H-frame mount, as shown here:

Does anyone know what the frame size/motor designation is required for these old lathes? I'd like to use a single phase motor as it's all i have available.

    Thanks,
    Alex.

If it really matters ask Hercus as you should have, otherwise put what ever fits and works.

    Hi Alex,
Sounds like a B56 frame motor which is basically 5" X 3" mount with a 4" shaft centre height. Most of the pre 80's models had these.
