If you don't get an answer here, best ask on one of the South Bend lathe forums. Mal

Thanks for the info. My father bought this new and that year makes sense to me.
I’ll show a couple of pics when I get a chance

Hi, I just rescued a Hercus model B lathe from a deceased estate, had been sitting in a basement for 9 years under a sheet, thankfully well oiled! Its safely home now in Fremantle WA and being lovingly restored to working condition. Came with 3 and 4 jaw, cast legs, 3 phase motor and a period lamp. Serial # B7644 with 'RGE' inspector stamp. Cheers

    Hi all,

I haven't been around for a long time but thought I would let you know I found a late model 260 ATL, I'm not buying it but it's for sale at a warehouse about 5 hour drive from me, in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. Thought I would post in case the new owner doesn't know about this list and it may help you fill in some gaps. S/N is 20593. Here is a link so you can look it over.

    cheers

And another lathe for the register, ARL 15144 P pattern, unfortunately it is missing the gearbox so I guess it just an RL now, bought new for a mechanical business and was one owner, The lady said she may have thrown out the gearbox after her Husband had died not knowing what it was at the time, wonder what else was thrown out too? The selector plate for the gearbox was in the box of bits though so I would assume something broke and he stripped it down to fix it and never finished it. It has the 4 jaw, faceplate, catch plate and the twin pulley for the motor to countershaft.
