    Default Tailstock height adjustment

Hi all, I need some shims to adjust the height (0.08mm) of the tail stock on my 260. Any recommendations?

What dimensions are the shims ? maybe you could use a couple of cheap sets of Feeler Guages.

    Graeme,

I've shimmed both of my nine's tailstocks. I used brass shim cut to the shape of the mating surfaces. Shim Brass Assortment 6 Sheets X 150mm X 150mm 05mm 25mm Thick Champion | eBay

Turned out to be a laborious task, most of the labour being the measurement of the difference between the headstock and tailstock centrelines. You may have already encountered this thread - http://www.woodworkforums.com/f65/ta...6/#post1523980 Ignore it if you have.

The 3 thou shim is still approximately one and a half tenths shy of your target 0.08mm. Try your micrometer on some aluminium foil.

    Good luck
    Bob.

I have some Champion brass 0.075mm shim I use for setting up the machines, I can let you have a piece of that if that will do.
