Question Wanted - hercus toolpost set screw

    Hello,
    Wanted:
Does anyone have 1 spare set screw for the Hercus 4 way toolpost?
    Happy to cover costs.

Or know where I can get 1 from?

Think it is the 3/8"square head, 5/16BSW thread version
I managed to break 1 when trying to remove it
Starting to restoe a 1962 Hercus model A lathe

    Thanks

    Michael

Do a search for Hercus parts, otherwise search for Square heade set screw, you will more than likely find that a 5/16" BSW sq hd set screw will have a 5/16" head rather than the Hercus special 3/8" head size.

    Michael,

If you can't source a single screw, you can buy a set here:

    hercus 9" toolpost setscrews

The screws with the 3/8 heads are more expensive:

    Thanks for all the comments.
I have been given a set of bolts with the smaller head very much appriciated

I will keep a look out for 1 bolt with the larger head as got the spanner that matches or I will find a suitable spanner.

The Lathe I have got has no tooling at all, was sitting on a rubbish tip for at leat 2 years, lucky it dont rain that often here, it will clean up quite easy, have already got the motor back working like new, kicked out the wasp nests and other dirt, a good coat of paint and new bearings have worked wonders Found what I think is the reason it got put on te tip, one of the FWD REV gears had a few teath stripped, now got a new FWS REV assembly ready to fit.

Any tips on what tools to get

    Regards

    Michael
