Default How does the small compound slide come apart?

    Hi,

I am having trouble getting the small compound slide that the tool holder bolts to apart.

At first I thought it would come apart like the larger slide, but it seems it is slightly different.

I have removed the gib strip and the grub screw that holds the brass nut in but I still cant get the thing apart.

    Any advice would be good.

    Thanks

From memory you will need to either find a hole in the inner collar, the one that your micrometer dial runs around.

If there is a hole in that turn that ring, its screwed into the body of the Compound.

If there is no hole grab the ring with Multies,Stillsons or vice using suitable protection and turn it to unscrew.

The Compound Screw will then slide out attached to everything.

If you like you can remove the Handle,be careful not to lose the key or pin that locates the Handle, then the Graduated collar and then unscrew the retainer ring.

Thankyou, got it out. Comes out pretty easily once you know the right way to do it.
