Change Gears different Hercus Lathes.
I am considering cutting Change Gears to Suit the 260 AM Metric Leadscrew lathe for cutting Imperial threads as wel as the Gears required to cut the Full range of Metric thread pitches.,
And also the Full range of Change Gears to be able to cut the Full range of Imperial Threads on the 260 BM and 260 CM with Metric leadscrew.
Also the Full set of Change Gears to cut Metric threads on the 260 B and 260 C lathes with Imperial Leadscrew.
And also the 100 tooth gear to suit the 9" without quickchange.
Just wondering if there maybe any interest.

Hercus gears
Good Evening Pipeclay,
I have finally reached a point (maybe) where I may be able to cut thread on my Model B.
I think I have a full set of gears for Imperial now.
But I recall seeing / reading / hearing somewhere that you can cut metric thread with the same set of gears but in different combinations,
Or do you need a different set of gears. this begs the questions what gears are then required for which metric thread. I am sure have seen that chart somewhere,
Which is a roundabout way of asking if you have that info and subsequently I may be interested in some of your gears in the market place.
thanks
Ian

F you have the full set of Gears for cutting Imperial threads you would only require,
26,28 and 100/127,for the Full range of Metric threads.
If you dont have all the Imperial Gears you would also require,
32,36,40,44,and 48 tooth gears.

I have journeyed so far in the past fortnight with my lathe. Starting with a Hercus 9 inch model A with a metric lead screw, I did not know any more than turning using the Transverse Controls. The forum, and in particular pipeclay, confirmed the standard change gears for this lathe (which I had) and specified the change gears to cut imperial threads and provided an imperial threading chart.
He was then able to supply the change gears I needed including a very impressive 120/127 compound gear. See the Woodwork Forum, Market Place for details.
Finally I got over the last few hurdles to cut my first thread with pipeclay's invaluable assistance.
For a novice like myself, the Hercus forum is a godsend. Also, members like pipeclay are your strongest resource and from my perspective a great bloke.
Thank you Peter.
Thank you all.
