    Success so far guy's i need to run a few more degree's on the bend's to bring the drawbar end's crossing each other at 4500mm from the back foward, than i will need to kick out the two front A frame pieces to make a Y

    But she's working

    Just uploading some pictures is taking around 15mins each pic my internet is aweful atm, i will update with more pics later

    I put a little more bend into the first bend on the length than proceeded to make the second bend it was late about 6:30-7pm dropped a few pieces of steel and only cracked it once and said "" out loud.. neighbour came out so i packed up, also my press is leaking so i ran out of hydraulic fluid, picked up a bottle of transmission fluid tonight so i will try get more done tomorrow, these are just screen shot's from a video i'm putting together

    I added in 400mm in length to run my last cross member under the rear/transom of the boat but fudged up my sizes and bent it a bit shorter so it will have a frame the same size as my old trailer, old trailer has tilting roller extending 400mm off the last cross member i was trying to incorperate that extra 400mm into the new frame.... but i will just run the nylon bunk's back 300mm or i can reuse the old trailer's roller's and tilting frame/bracket on the new trailer

    Hey guy's i got my 4x bend's made, the two bend's bending away from the flange turned out perfect, the two bend's bending towards the flange not so great 1 set of flanges bent out the other piece bent in i'm really not to fussed about it tho it's only a homemade job not for sale

    What i'm really wishing i had done was weld up a sliding die that would sit inside the PFC steel and wrap around the outsides of the flange so it would maintain the flat flange instead of kinking the flange up and down
    My band saw is being tempremental so if i can manage to cut the excess steel off tomorrow i will upload pictures and maybe a video

    My two main bend's or shoulder's of the frame are slightly off from each other i have no idea how i managed to mess that up i'm a bit upset about that but trying to load 45kg's of steel at 6 meter's long into the hydraulic press was really difficult especially trying to handle the length after making the first bend

    With my custom PFC 125MM under frame in the press, when i had the spacers below it at 850mm wide i would estimate i used 12-15ton, with the spacer's 550mm wide i estimate i almost maxed out the full 20ton of pressure

    Main frame is bent and cut to size, one side is sitting lower on the grass and the otherside is sitting on the concrete so it appear's one side is twisted but they are both bent straight

    Was tempted to use left over PFC 100x50mm C channel for the drawbar but i will get a length of 100x100x3mm gal tubing for the drawbar so there's no twisting when i turn corner's

    Thats overkill and might look a bit odd , i had a 7.5m 3.5t boat trailer and it had 75x50x3 draw bar which was solid , the trailer had rusted rear cross members so i scrapped it. I've noticed some trailer manufactueres are making swing away drawbars to save space, clever idea.

    I need 1370mm on the outsides of the main chassis to fit my old trailer axle and spring hanger's with that i need a 90mm wide drawbar it's just the sweet spot the steel beam's rested at, i don't really want to mess with the radiuses again as all 4 bend's are identical if i were to accidently over bend one i'll be in doodoo, the beam's are already 100x50mm

    Hey guys what are my option's for cross member's

    All i can find in 50x50x3mm is pre galvanised but it's not hot dipped galvanized, i really need to keep my GVM under 749kgs, old trailer rego paper indicated old trailer weighs 210kgs

    I'm guessing that the 50X50 pre galvanised is actually Duragal, which is in no way comparable to actual galvanising.

    Yeah it's Duragal i have been told HDG only comes in heavier steel length's, i can go upto 75x75x3mm that's if i can find it in HDG, main chassis is 100x50mm so it should'nt look to awkward, at $4 a kilo to galvanize i want to avoid that extra cost if possible, if it's my only option i may look at some thick wall aluminium tubing if the cost are similar, really don't want to comprimise using the Duragal if im going to be replacing the cross member's every couple of year's

    Actually i just checked on the Edcon Steel website i estimated 6 meters of 50x50x3mm shs it's showing 25.5kg that's just over $100 to galvanize at $4 per kilo to galvanize

    I will go this option
