[QUOTE=China;1929140]redarc take that stance because you would be surprised how many customers expect they should replace items destroyed by the customer because the don't know what they are doing[/QUOTE
Yes but no other company that I have ever dealt with send almost threatening emails stating that fact . I have bought plenty of cheaper electronic products and installed them myself and still got the manufacturers warranty . Redarc put you on notice rather abruptly that you are on your own if you can't afford an auto electrician even if the fault is caused by bad manufacturing . Don't like them won't ever buy from them.

Ahh I see what you mean. Yes it is another option.

One thing I forgot to mention is this truck is concessional registration. Not allowed in a built up area, only a km limit from base. (20km I think)

It is not expected to see any highway use. That is why I am after something cheap. There really is no need for lights where it will be driving

Cheap and easy way is use EBay sourced relays to switch a 12v circuit. A relay per trailer circuit. This requires that you have 2 x 12v batteries.

This, but maybe with a single 24->12V buck converter.

Redarc is overrated and overpriced. There's better out there. When I did the dual battery install on my brothers Toyota tray back, that we converted to a camper, I looked at Redarc and they did not have a manual override.

True. I did think about adding a converter instead, and would probably be easier if there was a 24v power wire already available. A mate did it as I suggested years ago in a 4WD.

Well I have finally got around to trying a plain cheap buck converter and it works fine on the borrowed trailer. Lights flash properly and so on.

Even the electric brakes work as the controller is on the trailer. Varying the input voltage between engine off and engine on battery charged does not change the output voltage.

    Good chinese ebay sellers.

You order some buck converters, and they send boost converters.

Ebay is your friend just type in "24v LED Trailer Lights" you have a few options, 1 run a voltage regulator input 24v output 12v, run 24v led's, change to 24v globes or even look for multi tap LED lights some will happily run on either 12v or 24v
