    Hey Dean,
Good to hear it's mostly going well.

With your Electric Brakes, what brand of brake are they? There are 5 that I know of, Dexter, Kelsey Hayes, Al-Ko, Indian copies & Chinese copies. Reason I ask is I know of a couple minor changes to one that weren't made known to the Australian distributor till recently, and there were some issues with drum compatibility for a short while till they found the problem. There may be some parts out there that still haven't been found, and it's not really something that stands out if you don't know what you're looking for.

    3 questions

Is the drawbar the same size steel as the rest of the chassis?

And how is the alloy sheeting held down? Bolts, rivets etc?

How is the 3mm checker plate handling the weight of the cars? Is it bowing much?

    Cheers

    hi yonee
the brakes are 10 inch al-ko from sa trailer spares they also supplied the new shoes for it as well . it had them baffled but all seems well atm

    and to surfy

the draw bar is 75x 50 x 4mm the chassis is 75x 50 3mm the ally is bolted down with cup head bolts and it does not bow at all but we have diagonal supports under it they are 15 mm squere by 3 mm .

    Default Enclosed Tilt Racecar Trailer

Hi all, just found this thread, I too have been building a trailer for an open wheel racecar. I wish I had documented the build from the beginning, as it has been a very long battle, still ongoing, but I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The trailer had to be built to accomodate a racecar that has a ground clearance of about 30mm so I planned a tilting mechanism and dropped axle.
Initially I planned an open trailer but after building the basic frame I thought, (there's not that much more work required to enclose it, and it would be handy if I wanted to leave the car in the trailer after a long race weekend). How wrong I was!! I also required a single axle to ease maneuverability when off the tow car. The car only weighs 360kg so I considered this, do-able. So at this point I will post some photos.

    hi all
its been since ive posted on here
I have just sold the trailer I build in this thread to a fellow club member I did around 15.000 ks with it but ive decided too now build a fully enclosed trailer .
two reasons mainly is I can use it for the race car and sleep in it .and im building a ac cobra replica and want secure trailer to house that when we go away to car shows. I intend to use alcubond panels for the sides and roof if I can find it in Adelaide lol.
so watch this space over the next few months for another trailer build .

    cheers dean

    Hi Dean

If you end up using the Alucobond and intend on glueing it on, make sure you get very good advice on what glue to use.

The enclosed trailer I built, I used a glue that I had previously used for a major alloy honeycomb trailer (the glue worked perfectly here). After a few weeks the panels were separating from the frame.

So I had to use rivets to hold the panels in place. This was fine in the end, but it doesn't give you the smooth outside look you might be wanting

    Cheers
