Ok another weekend update.

yesterday a mate came over and when spent an interesting 3 hours putting all the 240v and 12v wiring in place. I then put the first of the panelling in place that I had prepared during the week just to get a feel of what it might look like.



The white cable at the top is the 240v. I have put a 15amp inlet and a 10amp outlet on exterior of the back of the canopy and inside there will be two double points for general use and single power point for the battery charger.

This photo shows the back of the 12v control panel. Its really not as messy as it looks I did a bit more tidying up today.



The battery and charger will sit on the floor just below this panel. The photo is taken from the side of the trailer where I will have my tools. The battery and charger and all the wiring will be contained in a vented box.

These photos show the "kitchen" side and the first peice of panelling. The slot above the control panel is for a radio/mp3/Ipod player and the round hole in the top left corner is for one of the speakers.





So that's it for this weekend. Next major stage is setting up the plumbing and gas systems and of course testing the electrics.

Ok long time since I posted anything re updates progress etc. I have been gradually working my way through the issues of getting the kitchen set up right as I want to do it only once. It's been a bit like that song about the knee bone being connected to the thigh bone and thigh bone being connected to.............well you get the idea. Whatever I do in relation to one component effects the next and the next etc. The photos below show the overall approach I have taken.

This photo shows the water heater I have installed. This and the associated plumbing needed to be done first as you will see later. Its position is critical to how the kicthen "mechanism" works.

The next series shows how the tap arrangement will work. I have mounted them and a split spout fitting on a backing board that has three positions. Folded down for packing away, 90 degress to the sink for use over the sink and laying flat so I can connect a shower hose to the split fitting and use the tap handles to control the water flow to the shower. I will set the shower tent up behind the sink which will also give some wind proctection to the kitchen area.

This is the storage area under where the whole kitchen set folds to. This is where all the plumbing components are eg. pump, filter etc and where I will store hoses that connect the taps to the heater and the water tank.

Overall I am pretty pleased with the way it is going and for someone who normally likes to have things happening a bit more quickly it has at times been a bit frustrating but I am gradually coming round to the slower pace and isn't that what camper trailers are all about?

I fully understand the "kneebone deal" and whilst you appear to making no progress one day you go in leaps and bounds the next as you know where you're headed.

Ok June 30. I had planned to have the entire fitout both the kitchen side and the tool side finished by now. The kitchen side is almost there I just need to add a door to the central storage cupboard, put some lights above the sink/stove unit and the table and work out a support leg(s) for the end of the table.

After some rationalisation I managed to fit everything in. I will also be fitting a box to the front which I have managed to source "off the shelf" It is currently on its way from the big island. This will give me some more storage space.

Next target date is August 31 by which time I hope to have the fitout of the back of the Delica finished.
