Welding brass with Mig ?
Hi all, my boss at work wants me to look into welding brass and ally bronze. We have brass wire but nobdy has any idea about it. I have done some research on it and can not find a lot on it about techniques. Any information will be very helpful thankyou. Steve.

I have done a bit of Bronze a while ago transfer pump rotors.
Was using Alushield Heavy gas,because of the size of the jobs I was doing it was mainly a stich weld,
Amps not very high even less than what you would have for comparable size in steel,.
Sorry that theres not much info to help you we were just building up the outer edges of the rotors and then re maching.

Hi,
Silicon Bronze is a copper based filler metal for MIG welding used to weld base metals of steels and cast iron to copper, brass and bronze. It is also used on mild steel or gal steel sheet.
I have never used it but understand gall worked materials can be joined without the need to re gal the welded joint as it brazes rather than fuses the components.
Dedicated welding vendors will carry the wire and will be able to advise on the correct applications.
