    Default tig torch options (brands)

    Hello everybody.

The chubby torch that came along with my Tig feels heavy and my wrist gets uncomfortable after some time
I did got a replacement from ebay but that one gets very hot . I dont wish to mention the brands.
My question is , maybe anyone knows a nimble torch to suggest that can do up to 200A? I can make also a watercooler so this ones can be an option too.

Thank you in advance for any replies

I can vouch for CK worldwide gear - it's honest, well built, and will handle the rated amps. And parts are very easy to come by (pretty much industry standard).

I have a CK 17 series torch with the superflex cable. It is very comfortable to use.
The 17 can run your standard 3 series consumables (the standard collets, collet bodies, and long cups), as well as the 2 series stuff - ie stubby gas lenses, big bore pyrex cups and all that jazz.

The 17 series in air cooled config is good for 150A, running AC or pulse reduces the torch duty cycle a bit.
A 26 series air cooled will get you to 200A, but is bigger and bulkier. Superflex cables really do make the torches easy to manipulate and work with, as opposed to against.

I think a 18 series torch is a water cooled version of the 17 series, and the 20 series torch is the water cooled of the 26. But don't quote me.
Check out their website and product catalogue is also very useful with lots of pictures of different torch configurations.

    Default Tig torch models

    Hi guys.
The torch series with common consumables are.
    T17, T26 air cooled, T18 water cooled.
T9 air cooled, T20 water cooled.
One thing you are up against is duty cycle.
Tig torches usually have 50% duty cycle at rated capacity. So a T17 torch is 150A at 50%, or 5 mins in 10.
Roto head torches give the max in access but the price makes your eyes squint. I recently quoted a T20 roto 8 mtr with switch and fittings at $890.00 plus GST.
T17 torches can be fitted with a CB20 collet body to allow T9 nozzles to be used. With a short back cap the torch head is as small as 2" in length. But the duty cycle drops to 130A @ 50%.
