Transmig 195 wire feed not working
Help....I have just acquired an old Transmig 195, the wire feed will not engage when the trigger is pressed, you can hear the relay click but nothing from the wire feed. I have connected the wire feed motor to a 12v battery and the motor turns, I have checked the fuse and it looks intact and I have checked continuity on the trigger switch wires and they are ok. I have also checked the wire for moving through the liner and it pulls through, I have checked the spade end contacts.
I have kicked it and shouted at it but it is still not wanting to play!!
Have the gurus got any other ideas, as the next step is FIRE!!
PS Does anybody know where to get a new handle and trigger.
TIA

If the relay clicks when the trigger is pulled and the motor turns under external power then it should be pretty easy to run a multimeter over the connections to find either an open circuit, or lack of power to the circuit. Any reasonable electrician or appliance repair would be able to help.
The handle and trigger are a Tweco brand as standard, any good welding store will be able to sort replacement. But I wouldn't be looking for a replacement until you sort the problem above.

One of the rotary dials is a weld timer. Check the timer is not backed off to zero. Theres a cllck off and it looked to set to weld but its not.
Its is possible to set the timer to produce this effect. Have a play with the timer.
It was fun to set the switch and watch certain individuals who knew everything about it struggle after you had set the machine up, run a beautiful bead and hand it back after an un noticed
adjustment to said switch.
Its a maybe- but worth checking for.

I am not familiar with the particular equipment but there would be no need for a relay if something else switched the output. I would expect a constant feed before the relay.
A couple of pictures may help here, particularly of the components in that part of the circuit.

Ok you have heard a relay. which one are you hearing. Bear in mind there is also a relay contactor for the gas delivery. There should be one for opening the welding circuit as well. They make a clacking sound.
Ensuring that all relays work means opening the case and means that its an electrical trade job unless you are an electrician. Consensus is that a look inside is warranted.
That aside, don't just stop there. Its a wonderful opportunity to go thru the wire feed system front to back and clean /adjust/tweak it to make sure the wire travel through the machine is clean and slick. A airline, blowgun and a paint brush are great tools to use for this. I dust out a mig before I use it and rarely have had trouble if I do that and check that the wire feed is working efficiently.
