I know, but I think they are different fluxes. Otherwise standard OA welding glasses would work? I don’t know for certain, but apparently standard OA goggles and aluminium welding goggles are quite different.

I bought a pair of cobalt blue glasses last time I had a crack at welding ally with gas. They are available locally and not overly expensive.
Then I had a lightbulb moment when I realised how tedious it was and how bad I sucked at it and bought a TIG

How did they go with the orange flare from the flux?

I do have a multiprocessor unit that does TIG but DC only but would need to get an Argon bottle purely to use it, plus won't do aluminium. I was wanting to get setup with a O/A to for its other uses of heating, cutting etc aswell.

I inherited my dad’s blue lenses. I remember him making a twin carby manifold for the Vanguard ute before he put the TR4 motor in it.
Problem is I now can’t find them in the stash.
I do however know a couple of dudes who regularly weld Al with oxy after tacking with Tig.
A Tig weld is much less ductile and if you have to do any postweld wheeling or planishing, an oxy weld is the way to go.
If your not in a screaming hurry I’m happy to chase up where they get their lenses from.

They seemed to work well enough for the application. Certainly my ability to see what I was doing was far greater than my ability to actually do it

I ended up ordering the Sebring lens goggles hopefully they do what they say they do. But still would be interested to know what you come back with.
